Omni Bridgeway transitions to a capital-light model

This week, Moelis initiated coverage of Omni Bridgeway ((OBL)), a global legal finance and asset management business with a circa $443m market capitalisation, with a Buy rating and a $2.83 target price, an 81% premium to the last close.

The broker notes the company has transitioned from a balance-sheet funder to a capital-light investment manager. Omni Bridgeway manages $5.9bn in assets under management (AUM) across more than 300 active investments, providing non-recourse capital secured against legal claims.

Moelis estimates AUM growth of 10.0% per annum from FY26 to FY29, supported by rising legal spend and broader use of claims monetisation.

Moelis points out the legal finance sector offers returns uncorrelated with public equities and self-liquidating cash flows, with Omni Bridgeway achieving a 2.4x realised multiple on invested capital (MOIC) across 822 completions.

The broker believes fair value assumptions remain conservative compared with historical actuals. Current assumptions include a 33% loss rate and 6.5-year duration, versus actuals of a 21% loss rate and 3.5-year duration.

Fully and partially completed matters have converted at a combined 105% of their prior reported fair value, driving realised cash income.

Moelis expects realised income to grow by 37.3% per annum from FY26 to FY29, with fee income covering 70% of platform costs within FY28, up from 52.8% in FY26.

The company is debt-free with $89m in net cash on a stand alone basis, which together with $725m of portfolio fair value implies after-tax book value of $633-705m, against the $443m market capitalisation.

Key risks are binary case outcomes, longer durations and slower fundraising.

High grades to drive Group 6 Metals

Canaccord Genuity initiated coverage of Group 6 Metals ((G6M)), which operates the 100%-owned Dolphin tungsten mine on King Island, Tasmania, with a Buy rating and a $4.70 target price. The company has a circa $678m market capitalisation.

Dolphin turned cash-flow positive in FY26 following a 2025 recapitalisation, generating $41m of operating cash flow in the June quarter. The asset hosts one of the highest-grade tungsten resources outside China, at circa 1.0% WO3.

The broker expects the restart of underground mining, targeted for the September quarter of 2026, to drive a step-change in production, allowing the company to capitalise on near all-time high prices for ammonium paratungstate (APT).

Canaccord forecasts production growing by roughly 200% from FY27 to reach more than 240,000mtu by FY29. This is expected to drive an inflection in cash flow from FY28, lowering unit costs by 41% and lifting free cash flow to over $275m, from circa $96m in FY27 despite -$50m of growth capex.

Cash was $49.3m against $21.2m of debt at the end of June, and is forecast to reach circa $126m by the end of FY27.

Exploration drilling is planned to begin in the December quarter. The target price is based on an unrisked net present value of Dolphin at a long-term APT price of US$900/mtu, implying 1.5x FY28 EV/EBITDA and a 42% free cash flow yield.

The broker flags underground execution and single-site exposure as key risks.
