Bell Potter rates BPT as Hold (3) -

Beach Energy delivered June quarter production of 4.9mmboe and sales of 4.7 mmboe along with revenue of $400m. Bell Potter observes the business is in a "production replacement cycle" and production growth should return in FY27 along with an easing of capital expenditure.

The Waitsia ramp up continues, averaging 121TJ/day against nameplate of 250TJ/day as the compressor performance issues are progressively resolved.

Citi rates BPT as Sell (5) -

Citi remains cautious on Beach Energy, citing ongoing uncertainty around Waitsia's reliability despite management downplaying recent compressor issues.

The broker wants to see sustained production following the September maintenance program before adopting a more constructive stance. A June quarter production and sales miss was largely offset by stronger outcome on net debt, Citi explains.

The analyst expects an updated capital management framework to be more conservative than consensus anticipates, potentially disappointing investors hoping for a higher dividend. The approach is still seen as prudent given balance sheet funding requirements.

While Otway and Taroom provide attractive medium-term growth opportunities, Citi sees downside risk to near-term earnings and dividend expectations. Unchanged Sell rating and 80c target.

In an early assessment of Beach Energy's 4Q activities report, Macquarie notes outcomes were broadly in line with expectations. Management will release a capital management framework review update at its full-year result August 6.

June quarter production of 4.9mmboe was in line with the broker's forecast and -3% below consensus. Revenue of $400m also matched the broker's estimate but fell -6% short of consensus due to weaker sales volumes.

Morgan Stanley rates BPT as Equal-weight (3) -

Morgan Stanley expects the reaction to the Beach Energy June quarter will be "muted" as sales and production missed estimates, offset by supportive LNG pricing.

The company expects continued improvement at Waitsia in the current quarter, with the exception of a 24-day shutdown in September.

The broker notes the Thylacine West 1 intervention has been completed while the Artisan interest has been sold down and the La Bella 2 development well discontinued. The company will report its FY26 results on August 6.

UBS rates BPT as Sell (5) -

UBS retains a Sell rating on Beach Energy and lowers its target by -10c to 85c after the June quarter missed expectations on weaker Waitsia production. FY26 output fell marginally below the revised guidance range.

The broker expects management to adopt a more conservative dividend policy to preserve balance sheet flexibility and fund future growth opportunities.

Earnings forecasts are lowered over FY26-FY28 to reflect lower production at Waitsia and the Otway Basin.

Commentary notes ongoing commissioning challenges, lower-for-longer domestic gas prices and uncertainty over future production growth continue to weigh on the investment outlook.

Target price is $0.85 Current Price is $0.88 Difference: minus $0.025 (current price is over target).

Overnight Price: $117.94

Citi rates CSL as Neutral (3) -

Citi's latest survey of 103 US neurologists suggests immunoglobulin (Ig) prescribing for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) remains broadly stable despite ongoing concerns about future prescribing intentions.

CIDP accounts for more than 20% of CSL's Ig sales. The broker believes physician caution and treatment stickiness continue to support demand in practice.

Unfortunately, Citi also notes a meaningful increase in first-line prescribing of Argenx's Vyvgart, with its share of new treatment starting to double to 20% from 10%. Competitive pressure could gradually increase over time.

Vyvgart is an FcRn inhibitor, a newer class of medicine that lowers disease-causing antibodies rather than replacing antibodies like Ig therapy.

Ord Minnett rates CSL as Hold (3) -

Ord Minnett takes a look at its modelling for CSL ahead of the FY26 results on August 18. This drives modest upgrades to FY27 and FY28 estimates. As a result, the target rises to $123.30 from $121.50.

The broker expects FY26 numbers to largely align with market expectations, forecasting revenue for FY26 at US$15.5bn. The performance of CSL Behring will be the key consideration for investors, the broker adds, with immunoglobulin revenue expected to be flat and albumin down -10%.

Seqirus FY26 revenue is forecast to fall -7% and Vifor revenue to increase 6%. A Hold rating is maintained given substantial uncertainty surrounding the earnings outlook.

Siding & Trim revenue guidance was particularly strong, up 11% at the midpoint, implying around 16% pro forma growth. The analyst emphasises this is a robust result but believes most of the volume growth is being driven by a reversal in destocking.

Today's preliminary first quarter FY27 results by James Hardie Industries exceeded Morgans' expectations. At first glance, consolidated net sales and earnings (EBITDA) came in around 9% above forecasts by the broker and consensus.

LYC  LYNAS RARE EARTHS LIMITED

Rare Earth Minerals

Overnight Price: $15.38

Citi rates LYC as Sell (5) -

Lynas Rare Earths' June quarter production shortfall was driven by transition-zone ore at Mt Weld rather than processing constraints, Citi observes.

Management will make operational adjustments rather than additional capital expenditure to address the issue.

Record average selling prices and stronger-than-expected dysprosium and terbium production reflected renewed Chinese export controls, the analysts explain.

Citi believes future heavy rare earth production growth will now depend on ore grades rather than processing capacity.

Higher capital expenditure of US$294m reflects investment in non-China supply chains and tighter purity specifications, weighing on near-term free cash flow.

Sell. Target $9.50.

Target price is $9.50 Current Price is $15.38 Difference: minus $5.88 (current price is over target).

Macquarie rates LYC as Outperform (1) -

On further inspection following the initial response below, Macquarie has lowered EPS forecasts by -21% for FY26 and -28% for FY27, with the target price reduced by -7% to $20.50.

The 4Q26 update was disappointing, but as one of the few Western rare earths producers operating at commercial scale, Macquarie maintains the stock continues to warrant a premium valuation.

Outperform is retained.

***

In an early assessment, Macquarie retains an Outperform rating on Lynas Rare Earths despite today's weaker-than-expected June quarter operational report.

Rare earth oxide production of 3,481t came in -10% below consensus and -5% below Macquarie's forecast, whilst NdPr production missed both by -15%.

Production was affected by ore quality issues at both the Malaysian Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) and Kalgoorlie facilities.

Revenue also missed consensus on lower sales volumes, whilst cash finished ahead of expectations at $1.21bn.

A 63% increase in heavy rare earth expansion capital expenditure disappointed, with investors now focused on the Kalgoorlie ramp-up and CEO succession planning, Macquarie suggests.

Target price is $20.50 Current Price is $15.38 Difference: $5.12
If LYC meets the Macquarie target it will return approximately 33% (excluding dividends, fees and charges).

Ord Minnett rates LYC as Upgrade to Lighten from Sell (4) -

Ord Minnett observes Lynas Rare Earths is struggling to approach nameplate of 10,000tpa at Mount Weld, even with its vast experience.

The broker downgrades production forecasts in the wake of the June quarter, where output fell to 1857t, and this reduces earnings estimates.

Yet the company is a beneficiary of strong rare earth prices amid solid cash flow and the rating is increased to Lighten rather than Sell.

UBS rates LYC as Buy (1) -

UBS retains a Buy rating on Lynas Rare Earths but lowers its target to $22.75 from $23.60 after weaker-than-expected June quarter production and higher capital expenditure.

The broker believes the operational issues are temporary but adopts a more conservative production outlook for FY27-FY28.

The analyst remains positive on Lynas' leading ex-China position and growing exposure to higher-value heavy rare earths as market fundamentals continue to strengthen.

Overnight Price: $3.30

Morgan Stanley rates SDR as Overweight (1) -

Ahead of results in August, Morgan Stanley highlights SiteMinder as a key pick.

The company has not provided a trading update heading into the results which suggests expectations for EBITDA of $29.9m are realistic, commentary suggests, despite FX headwinds and the war in the Middle East.

This is in contrast to several other downgrades in the travel segment and the perceived AI challenges, the broker points out.

While historically the earnings base has been small, Morgan Stanley looks ahead to FY27 and envisages greater scope for valuation support.

What is not in the price is a lower risk of AI displacement, as the partnership with Mews has embedded SiteMinder's distribution capability, countering the bear case.

Overnight Price: $13.78

Citi rates SEK as Buy (1) -

Citi lowers net profit after tax forecasts by -2% for FY26 and -9% for FY27, reflecting softer advertising volumes and higher depreciation and amortisation charges.

The analyst's FY27 forecast is now around -4% below consensus for Seek, yet the broker believes the company can still achieve 17% net profit after tax growth and that the market is not fully pricing in its yield potential.

ANZ yield growth of 13% is forecast for FY26, supported by increased uptake of the new Advanced tier, while wage growth of 4% underpins the platform's ability to raise prices.

In FY27, ANZ yield growth is forecast to slow to 9% as penetration of the Advanced tier matures. While ANZ web traffic is easing, Asian traffic, particularly in developed markets, is growing.

UBS rates WGX as Buy (1) -

UBS assesses a mixed June quarter for Westgold Resources. Group production exceeded the broker's expectation, driven by stronger-than-forecast output at the Murchison operations, although higher purchased ore volumes diluted margins.

Production at Beta Hunt missed the analysts' forecasts due to ventilation issues restricting access to higher-grade ore, prompting UBS to lower its production and earnings forecasts for FY27 and FY28. Ongoing attractive free cash flow (FCF) generation is highlighted.

Updated FY27 guidance and a revised three-year outlook are expected with the company's August results. UBS continues to see attractive free cash flow generation.
