Things are going very well with the internet in Australia and more specifically the growth of advertising on the Australian net. According to the latest figures released by the Audit Bureau of Verification Services (ABVS) online advertising grew by 59.4% in FY06 to reach $778m.
ABVS’s June 2006 Online Advertising Expenditure Report highlights that for the six months to June 30, 2006, online advertising spend in Australia grew by 60.1% over the same period in 2005 to $421m. Online advertising spend grew by 15.9% to $226m over the first quarter in 2006.
General Advertising accounted for 31.8% of the total online ad expenditure, Classifieds Advertising for 31.2% and Search and Directories Advertising for 37%.
The financial year revenues for General Advertising grew 60.7% to $247.5m with revenues for Classifieds Advertising up by 43.8% to $243m and Search and Directories advertising up by 74.2% to $287.5m.
