Following rate rises in May and July the RBA has chosen to remain on the sidelines for now and await more evidence that may suggest a rise later in the year. Economists are tipping November.
Conflicting data of much reduced consumer confidence offset with suddenly rising housing approvals would have not made the decision an easy one, and the RBA is keeping a watchful eye on inflation, which is still running above the comfort zone.
