The rumour mill about what is going to happen with Canada’s leading aluminium producer Alcan continues to spin with media reports suggesting Rio Tinto (RIO) has hired Deutsche Bank as an adviser in preparation for a bid.

It was reported earlier last week that Alcan had sought to revive talks with BHP Billiton (BHP) to escape from a hostile bid by fellow aluminium producer Alcoa.
