Ord Minnett

Hold

$18.50

-3.44%

Suncorp's FY26 result was broadly in line with Ord Minnett's expectations.

Underlying insurance earnings increased 4.5% to $1.64bn and the insurance margin of 11.8% remained near the upper end of its 10%-12% target range.

The analyst sees capital returns as a key positive, with a fully franked 52c final dividend, an additional 10c special dividend and a further share buyback of up to $250m.

The broker is cautious on FY27 guidance, viewing 3%-5% GWP growth as potentially difficult to achieve as consumer pricing moderates and commercial lines face pressure, while higher aggregate reinsurance costs could challenge margin expectations.

Cost flexibility and more favourable weather provide potential upside, while the strong balance sheet and sustained margins limit downside risk.

EPS forecasts increase 0.3%, 1.2% and 0.4% for FY27, FY28 and FY29, respectively, with Hold and the $18.50 target unchanged.

FORECAST
Ord Minnett forecasts a full year FY27 dividend of 86.00 cents and EPS of 117.00 cents.
Ord Minnett forecasts a full year FY28 dividend of 89.00 cents and EPS of 123.00 cents.

Jarden

Neutral

$19.60

2.30%

Jarden maintains a Neutral rating for Suncorp Group with its target price reduced to $19.60 from $19.70 following a third consecutive gross written premium downgrade.

The analyst flags risks regarding marginal demand softness in Australia, noting a less supportive environment heading into maiden FY27 guidance.

The broker observes a deliberate margin-over-volume strategy, which may support margin-accretive results even as top-line growth slows.

Earnings support into FY27 is expected to be driven by capital management, potentially including future share buybacks.
