FNArena Talks | Sep 29 2012

There are not many certainties in life, but whenever I join host John Murray and regular guest Michael 'The Heff" Heffernan from Lonsec for yet another edition of BRR Media's Friday Afternoon Round Table, overall sentiment is bound to be one that is generally optimistic and positive. Odd, but I always feel inclined to provide at least a little bit of what I like to label "intellectual resistance" when I am surrounded by so much bullishness (even more so when the market looks toppy and indecisive).
On Friday, during the live broadcast, one viewer sent in an email stating "at last, someone speaking the truth" and host John made it clear that message was directed at my opening remarks. It's easy to be blindly positive, all the time. It's very difficult not to when employed as a stockbroker. I think the viewer's response speaks for itself.
Among the subjects discussed are:
– QE3 and what will it do for Australian equities?
– The US Q3 reporting season
– Agricultural stocks, thanks to a contribution of small caps specialist Michael Killicoat
Companies mentioned and discussed include Breville Group ((BGR)), Leighton Holdings ((LEI)), Thinksmart ((TSM)), Tandou ((TAN)), Australian Securities Exchange ((ASX)), Australian Education Trust ((AEU)) and The Reject Shop ((TRS)).
Friday's broadcast can be found on the BRR Media website, in FNArena's (more) Sources of Wisdom section, or by simply using the following link:
