As we wind down towards Christmas, Australia begins to relax while the US continues with a solid week of economic data.
The Chicago PMI is released next week, along with new and existing home sales, the FHFA house price index, personal income and expenditure, durable goods, and the UMich fortnightly consumer sentiment survey. A final revision of third quarter GDP will be made on Wednesday.
The UK will also provide its equivalent final revision next week, while New Zealand will release its once-only GDP result.
In Australia, the minutes of the RBA's December meeting will be released for close scrutiny on Tuesday while Westpac will offer its leading economic index on Wednesday.
Friday is Christmas Eve and the ASX will close at 2.10pm Sydney time instead of the usual 4pm. Australia will take in holidays in lieu the following week while the US will take its holiday on the Friday, such that all US markets are closed on the Friday night.
