I’m not sure what you asked Santa for, but Janet Yellen has already given me my Christmas present: the knowledge that I will not have to discuss the possible timing of the first Fed rate rise in 2016, meaning I can indeed have a relaxing break.
Next week is Christmas, meaning abbreviated trading weeks in all Western markets. Everything non-Asian will be closed on Friday.
The US responds by cramming a wealth of economic data into the first three days of the week. Releases include the Chicago Fed national activity index, new and existing home sales, house prices, the Richmond Fed index, durable goods, personal income & spending, consumer sentiment, and a final revision of September quarter GDP.
The NYSE will close at 1pm on Christmas Eve.
Australia responds by offering no economic releases.
The ASX will close at 2.10pm on Christmas Eve.
The shutters will come down on FNArena’s regular daily service on Wednesday. Service will resume on January 14, but the website will be accessible over the break.
