To put things into perspective, we are now three weeks into the local August result season with only a week and a half to go, yet only about a third of the 300-plus companies covered by FNArena database brokers have reported so far. The large bulk of the balance will report next week.
Strap in.
If the RBA is not already very much the focus of the local market, next week we see the first of the June quarter data releases which lead in to the GDP result early next month. Construction work done and private sector capex numbers are due next week.
Over in Europe the focus will be on a flash estimate of the eurozone’s manufacturing PMI (is there any Brexit fallout?) and the IFO investor sentiment survey.
It’s a busy week for US data, including releases for new and existing home sales, house prices, durable goods and consumer sentiment along with the Chicago Fed national and Richmond Fed activity indices and flash estimates for both the manufacturing and services PMIs. The week will culminate with the first revision of the June quarter GDP result.
Put the kettle on, it’s going to be a long week.
