The US sees a quarterly quadruple witching derivative expiry tonight which has the potential to create some volatility, although not always. The fact the VIX is at historical lows suggests there are not a lot of options positions out there.

Next week is a very quiet one for economic data across the globe, and even quieter in terms of scheduled corporate events or releases locally as we count down to EOFY.

The US will see existing and new home sales and house prices, and a flash estimate of June manufacturing PMI.

Japan the the eurozone will also flash their PMIs.

The RBNZ holds a policy meeting on Thursday.

In Australia the minutes of the June RBA meeting are due on Tuesday, along with March quarter house prices, which by now are old news. And that’s about it.

Outside of unscheduled announcements, Australian listed companies go into a pre-EOFY blackout for the next two weeks.

The only foreseeable excitement next week is anything further that may arise from the Trump investigation. Albeit Wall Street doesn’t seem that fussed.
