Monday is a public holiday in NSW, the ACT and South Australia. The ASX is open but trading will be very thin.
Beijing will release official September PMIs tomorrow before China goes into a week-long holiday.
The beginning of the month sees manufacturing PMIs across the globe on Monday and services PMIs on Wednesday, including in Australia. A busier week in Australia sees the release of job ads, building approvals, retail sales and trade numbers.
The RBA will meet on Tuesday.
The first week of the month means jobs week in the US, with private sectors numbers due on Wednesday and non-farm payrolls on Friday. Other US data next week include construction spending, vehicle sales, chain store sales, factory orders and trade.
Janet Yellen will speak on Wednesday night.
There is very little on the Australian corporate calendar next week, and school holidays will help to ensure a quiet period on the research front. We’re still working through the last of the ex-dividends but the number is getting fewer and the names are mostly smaller.
Programmed Maintenance ((PRG)) holds its AGM on Friday. The AGM season will build this month to a crescendo towards month’s end, mimicking reporting season.
Note that as Australia goes onto summer time this weekend, as of Tuesday the NYSE will close at 7am Sydney time.
