Next week brings the last three days of February and thus, unofficially, the last three days of the local reporting season. While the volume of reporting companies does ease next week don’t be fooled, there are still plenty of reports to come.

Next week also sees what has up to now been a steady trickle of ex-dividends turn into a flood. This will act as an apparent drag on the ASX200. See the FNArena Calendar for all ex-divs.

A busy week for US data next week sees releases including new and pending home sales, house prices, durable goods, trade, construction spending, vehicle sales, the Richmond Fed index and the all-important (now) personal income & spending numbers, which include the PCE – the Fed’s preferred measure of inflation.

The US December GDP result will also be revised once more.

The first of the month will bring the usual global round of manufacturing PMIs, with China jumping the gun on Wednesday and publishing its services PMI as well.

Australia will see the PMI, monthly private sector credit, and one of the most important economic indicators in the form of December quarter private sector capex and capex intentions.
