Wall Street Looking Weak

Technicals | Oct 18 2016

By Michael Gable

Volatility is creeping back into share markets and it looks like the downside that we have anticipated might be starting to unfold now. We have included a chart of the [US] S&P 500 Index in today's report to show you what we are seeing.

After dropping sharply in September, the S&P 500 Index managed to quickly bounce back but it essentially drifted for the last month. Last week finally saw it break lower again and price action the last few days has been very weak. It really needs to rally here for traders to be bullish. It has also struggled under the 100-day Moving Average, which is closely watched in the US. As we have mentioned previously, we see support levels near 2000 and further down near 1870 as the most bearish scenario.
