FNArena Launches Its New Investor Education Series

Feature Stories | Feb 05 2010

The ASX shareholder survey of 2008, released last year, showed that a large proportion of Australian investors, having been shocked by the GFC, would like to understand more about the stock market before becoming an active investor once more.

FNArena receives, on a daily basis, many emails from subscribers asking questions of a fundamental nature, from the complex to the relatively simple. While the prospect of buying and selling shares might seem straightforward, the process is still often a mystery to the less experienced investor no matter how experienced that investor is in any other field.

In response, FNArena has launched its new Investor Education service, delivered as a series of short webinars available on the website. The webinars take the form of tutorials which are designed to unlock the mysteries of the stock market and investment in general.

Why do companies issue shares? Why do they pay or not pay dividends? Why do shares rise and fall in value? How do I go about investing?

These topics are addressed in the first series of three tutorials now available on the website. The first three begin with very simple concepts that more experienced investors may find unnecessary, but over time new tutorials will be added which will address more and more complex issues such as share purchase plans, derivative instruments, technical analysis, how to understand broker recommendations and so forth.

One might call the service a form of “investor diploma” course. And all webinars will be archived, such that new investors can always start at the beginning.

While these tutorials are brief, the service also provides you with the opportunity to participate in more extensive educational seminars and trading course, all of which are free of charge.

To view the first tutorials and find out more about free educational services, just hit the “Investor Education” button on the FNArena website at www.fnarena.com. If you are a logged-in subscriber, just go to the “Investor Education” link in the left-hand menu.
