Weekly Reports | Feb 10 2012

Presumably we will hear tonight whether or not the EU finance ministers approve of the tweaked list of troika demands the Greek politicians have agreed to as forming its latest austerity package. Rejection seems unlikely, although if track record is anything to go by we may still be waiting into the weekend or beyond.
There is not likely to be any great positive response if the ministers give it a tick given global markets have basically priced in a positive bail-out result. Hopefully we can get on with life, at least for the time being.
Life in Australia next week means shifting up into third gear for the earnings report season. The following week and three days will see top gear. From here on it's pointless me trying to list all the report highlights for the week so readers are directed to the FNArena Calendar (link below) which lists all the daily reports as well as all the daily local and global economic data releases.
Economically, next week in Australia sees the monthly round of bank-driven data with the ANZ job ads series, NAB business confidence and Westpac consumer confidence reports all due. We'll also see housing finance, investment lending and vehicle sales and on Thursday the monthly unemployment report is released. ABARES will also release its seasonal crop report on Tuesday.
Japan and the eurozone will both release estimates of December quarter GDP next week and the eurozone's industrial production, trade balance and ZEW business activity report will be closely watched.
It's busy economically for the US in a week which includes business inventories, retail sales, industrial production, housing market sentiment, housing starts, and inflation data. The Philly manufacturing index is also in there and the minutes of the last Fed meeting are released on Wednesday.
For a more comprehensive preview of next week's events, please refer to "The Monday Report", published each Monday morning. For all economic data release dates, ex-div dates and times and other relevant information, please refer to the FNArena Calendar.
