Next week is Fed week, with the September statement and Powell press conference due on Wednesday night. A rate hike is baked in by the market, but hints about December will be sought.
US data releases through the week include house prices, new and pending home sales, consumer confidence, durable goods, PCE inflation, the Richmond Fed index and another revision of June quarter GDP.
China is closed on Monday, ahead of data for industrial profits and the PMIs later in the week.
Japan is closed on Monday.
The RBNZ holds a policy meeting on Thursday.
The only highlight on the Australian economic calendar next week is private sector credit on Friday.
On the local stock front, Nufarm ((NUF)) will release its drought-stricken earnings result and AGL Energy ((AGL)) will hold its AGM.
The volume of stocks going ex-dividend on four of the five days next week is minimal, although there are still some ASX200-300 names on the list. The odd day out is Thursday.
The last Thursday of the month is the day a number of bond proxy stocks – REITs and other investment funds – choose to go ex. These are all high-yielders.
