Hold

$35.00

-10.16%

Ord Minnett explains National Australia Bank's FY26 cash earnings declined -13% y/y, missing consensus by -3%, with diluted cash EPS down -14%.

The analyst attributes higher credit impairment charges for the miss, while the final dividend of 85cps brought the full-year payout to $1.70, unchanged y/y.

Asset quality deteriorated, with non-performing loans rising 4bp in 2H26 to 1.56% and loans on watch increasing 22bp to 1.33%, predominantly in Business & Private Banking.

Housing loans over 90 days past due rose 9bp to 1.09%, with the broker highlighting broad-based credit deterioration.

Underlying cost growth guidance of below 3% disappointed expectations, although core NIM improved 2bp to 1.83% in 2H26 and CET1 increased to 11.87% from 11.65%.

FY27 and FY28 EPS forecasts lowered by -9.3% and -6.8%. Hold retained. Target reduced to $35 from $37.

Jarden

Sell

$29.00

-25.56%

Jarden maintains a Sell rating for National Australia Bank with its target price unchanged at $29.00 following announcements regarding restructuring charges.

The analyst notes the lender expects to recognise a pre-tax restructuring charge of -$300m in FY27 alongside an initial -$80m charge in FY26 covering redundancy, redeployment, and organisational redesign costs.

These provisions reflect ongoing revenue pressure and increasing bad debts which elevate the risk of another dividend reinvestment plan underwrite to buttress common equity tier 1 capital.

Commentary flags further cost details will emerge during upcoming FY26 results announcements.

Following these updates, Jarden's estimates for FY27 and FY28 earnings experience adjustments of -1% and up 4% respectively.
