Chinese GDP figures yesterday were in line with expectations but some analysts are querying the convenience of that. There are some murmurings that the decline in growth has been a little quicker than that and the government is trying to avoid spooking markets. Resource stocks have had a nice move up in the last couple of weeks so it will be interesting to see if they take a breather here at this point.

In terms of what to buy, Macquarie Group ((MQG)) is appears to be a good little trade here. On the downside I can see weakness in iiNet ((IIN)) and Wesfarmers ((WES)). Wesfarmers in particular was one that I covered in May and its fall of 14% hit my target beautifully. Once again I can see the stock struggling here so it presents traders with another opportunity to short, and investors an opportunity to be patient before buying again.

ASX 200

The XJO had a great week which saw it retest the 5000 level. We can see that it has once again reached a key resistance level so while the upside momentum is encouraging, we may now be reaching a point where it could congest here for the next week or two down towards 4850.
