ASX Top Gainers & Losers plus Market Snapshot – 21 January 2014
US Markets Closed for Market Luther King Jr Holiday, European markets slightly softer and over 16% of the US heavy weights by market cap will be reporting tonight in the US.
What are traders talking about today?
- S&P/ASX200 gained 36.5 points or 0.69% on volume of $2.9 billion, closing at 5331.5.
- US Markets closed for Martin Luther King Jr Holiday.
- All eyes are on the CPI data due out tomorrow.
- Aussie Dollar has managed to climb back above the 88 cent level.
Economic news
- Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence numbers were released showing a fall of 1.2 points to 116.3, which is the lowest level since January 2009.
Looking over the charts
- Market is looking good to close above the 5325 immediate resistance.
- Despite an early intraday fall our market climbed strongly after midday to close near the highs.
- Once a close above 5325 is established it would be good to see the market testing and breaking through the 5350-5360 level.
- Stochastics continues to push higher showing momentum to the upside.
