It appears, as I write, that the UK election result will not be conclusively forthcoming in a hurry.

The Bank of England will coincidentally hold a policy meeting next week, but no change is likely. The Bank of Japan is also not expected to alter its easy policy when it meets next week. But the central bank big event next week will be the Fed meeting, Yellen press conference, and as 96% of Wall Street assumes, rate rise.

It does not appear the Comey story is going to go anywhere significant in a hurry either. The US can thus settle back next week to assess Fed policy, inflation numbers, retail sales, housing sentiment and starts, industrial production, consumer sentiment, and the Empire State and Philly Fed indices.

Friday brings the quadruple witching derivatives expiry on Wall Street.

In the wake of its surprising trade numbers, China will release May industrial production, retail sales and fixed asset investment numbers.

New Zealand’s March quarter GDP result is due.

Australia will kick off the week with a holiday on Monday. Not in Queensland or WA mind, but the ASX will be closed, as will FNArena’s regular daily service.

Next week also brings Australia’s quarterly SPI and index option expiry. Data-wise, the NAB business and Westpac consumer confidence surveys are due, as are the May jobs numbers.

As corporate Australia goes into near blackout ahead of EOFY, notwithstanding any more “confession session” profit warnings, next week’s calendar sees both Stockland ((SGP)) and Goodman Group ((GMG)) hosting investor days.
