By Greg Peel

On Monday night Wall Street will return from what is effectively a four-day long weekend to once again worry about tax reform, monetary policy and flattening yield curve before buying the market anyway. Possibly. Attention will be focused on how Cyber Monday online retail sales are faring and how tonight’s Black Friday bricks & mortar bonanza rated.

On Thursday the world’s attention will turn to the OPEC meeting, at which it is hoped current production cuts are extended in time and agreed upon by all, as is Saudi Arabia’s wish but not necessarily every member’s.

US data releases throughout the week include new and pending home sales, house prices, consumer confidence, personal income & spending, construction spending and the November manufacturing PMI.

Friday is the first of the month hence PMIs across the globe, albeit China now publishes both manufacturing and services PMIs on the last day of the month in question.

The US will also see another revision of September quarter GDP and the Fed will publish its Beige Book.

On the subject of September quarter GDP, Australia will see numbers for the important segment of private sector capex on Thursday, along with monthly private sector credit and building approvals.

On Friday S&P/ASX will announce quarterly promotions and relegations in and out of its range of indices ahead of those changes becoming effective two weeks later.

The local AGM season continues through to the end of the month before dropping rapidly back to just a handful of stragglers thereafter.

Earnings results will be posted next week by Collins Foods ((CKF)) and Aristocrat Leisure ((ALL)).

BHP ((BHP)) will host an “investor day” over all of Monday through Wednesday, while Origin Energy ((ORG)) manages to keep its investor day to just the Tuesday.
