The US quarterly earnings season is still in full swing but next week sees the Australian half yearly season ramp up in earnest, albeit gradually. The ASX200 has just undergone a volatile week but ultimately not achieved anything, so macro influences aside, we should see some direction emerging as the reporting season unfolds.

Next week’s big names among reporters include Commonwealth Bank ((CBA)), Carsales ((CAR)), Rio Tinto ((RIO)), AMP ((AMP)) and REA Group ((REA)), to name a few.

Macquarie Group ((MQG)) will also provide an operational update next week and National Bank ((NAB)) its quarterly numbers.

Before that, we’ll see US jobs numbers tonight ahead of Monday’s run of service PMI results from across the globe. Next week’s US data calendar is thin, with trade numbers the only standout.

Central banks will be in focus with the RBA meeting on Tuesday, the RBNZ on Thursday and the Bank of England on Thursday night.

China will release January trade and inflation numbers.

Australian data releases include the services PMI, ANZ job ads, retail sales, trade and housing finance.
