When the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then Ben will rule the planet, and the bulls will steer the stars. Welcome to the dawning of the Age of QE2. What could go wrong?
Well we'll worry about that down the track.
Tonight in the US is jobs night along with pending home sales. Next week in the US is actually a bit of a quiet one on the economic data front, with wholesale inventories, the trade balance and the Treasury budget being the highlights, along with November's first UMich confidence survey on the Friday.
Thursday is the Veteran's Day part holiday meaning banks and the bond market are closed but the stock and futures markets are open. Prior to that, the Treasury will issue US$72bn of three and ten-year notes and thirty-year bonds. It is interesting to note that the total volume of either new or rolled over Treasuries on offer each month is now falling quite quickly at a time when many fear a “bond bubble” and the Fed is buying many, many more.
China will release its monthly trade balance on Wednesday and then it's monthly round of data on Thursday, covering inflation, investment, retail sales and industrial production. UK and EU industrial production numbers will also be released next week, along with the first estimate of EU third quarter GDP.
In Australia it's a week for bank economists to take the stage with the ANZ job ads, NAB business confidence and Westpac consumer confidence numbers due. We also have housing finance numbers and on Thursday, our own jobs report.
It was a bit of a quiet week for AGMs this week but next week the pace starts to build once more. The following week is busier still and omigod you don't want to know how many AGMs there are in the last week of November.
On the earnings front, we have reports due from Dulux ((DLX)), Orica ((ORI)), SPN Ausnet ((SPN)) and Optus owner SingTel ((SGT)) next week.
