What’s Happening Next Week?

Next week is relatively light on for economic data releases but in Australia at least there will be number of speeches by Reserve Bank of Australia board members that should provide some additional insight on the state of the Australian economy.

These include presentations from assistant governor Philip Lowe on Tuesday, governor Glenn Stevens on Wednesday and head of economics Anthony Richards on Thursday. Aside from the speeches the only major release of note expected is the RBA’s financial stability review, which will be released on Thursday.

Out of New Zealand there is only December quarter current account and February trade data expected on Thusday and Friday respectively, along with December quarter GDP numbers due on Friday.

Japan has a few more releases due with the Bank of Japan releasing its latest minutes on Monday, February trade balance numbers expected on Wednesday, Corporate Service Price data due on Thursday and March CPI and February retail trade numbers due on Friday.

Anticipated EU data include only January current account and industrial new orders numbers on Tuesday, while expected UK data releases include February CPI numbers on Tuesday, February retail sales and December quarter total business investment data on Thursday and December quarter GDP and current account numbers on Friday.

From the US the market is expecting February existing home sale numbers on Monday, January house price index and March Richmond Fed data on Tuesday, February durable goods and new home sales numbers on Wednesday, December quarter GDP data and initial jobless claims on Thursday and PCE Deflator and personal spedning numbers for February plus the latest University of Michigan consumer confidence index on Friday.

Among the corporate items of interest Woolworths ((WOW)) is set to go ex-dividend 48c on Monday, while Cabcharge ((CAB)), Skilled Engineering ((SKE)) and Macquarie Leisure ((MLE)) go ”ex” on Wednesday, Centennial Coal ((CEY)) on Thursday and Webjet ((WEB)) on Friday.
