Today is the last day of the quarter for the Australian market, which may mean the usual post-lunch exodus ahead of Easter is not so pronounced this year as books are squared. It will be a similar story in the US tonight.
All Western markets are closed tomorrow for Good Friday, with Japan and China notably remaining open. Beijing will release March PMI data on Saturday.
The US returns to work on Monday when other Western markets remain closed. The mix of holiday breaks means next week’s round of global March PMIs will be staggered across the week.
Other than PMIs, the US will see construction spending, vehicle sales, factory orders and trade numbers next week. The private sector jobs report is due on Wednesday and the all-important non-farm payrolls numbers on Friday.
China will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
The RBA will meet on Tuesday. Local data releases next week include the PMIs, job ads, house prices, building approvals, retail sales and trade.
The ex-dividend calendar extends into April on the local market, although the numbers now start to thin out.
Scentre Group’s ((SCG)) AGM on Thursday alerts us that AGM season for calendar year reporters will quietly begin next month.
