It’s inflation week next week in the US, and this month the April PPI release on Tuesday will precede the CPI release on Wednesday.

The US will also see numbers for housing starts and industrial production.

On Friday, China releases April retail sales, industrial production and fixed asset investment data.

Locally, it’s federal budget night on Tuesday night, and while typically budgets don’t much impact on the stock market, with exceptions, this one is arguably the most highly anticipated in some time.

The government has already caught out the market with its new gas policy, on the heels of its still quite vague Future Made program, so anything might happen.

On Wednesday, we’ll see the March quarter wage price index and on Thursday April jobs numbers, both of which the RBA will be watching closely.

The ASX200 is looking a little healthier this morning, but watch out on Monday morning when both ANZ Bank ((ANZ)) and Macquarie Group ((MQG)) go ex.

CSR ((CSR)) reports earnings next week, as do Aristocrat Leisure ((ALL)), Incitec Pivot ((IPL)) and Serko ((SKO)).

Waypoint REIT ((WPR)) and Atlas Arteria ((ALX)) hold AGMs.
