While the US markets cheered the Nvidia results, there was not so much enthusiasm for the Federal Reserve minutes and the latest manufacturing and services PMIs which rained on general investor enthusiasm.

Looking out to next week, it is more data watching in store with a plethora of important updates both at home and abroad.

The week starts quietly with US markets closed, but Tuesday fires up with domestic retail sales for April, the Japanese CPI, and US consumer confidence.

Wednesday will reveal the Australian April CPI data and construction work, followed by US employment claims on Thursday, and European CPI on Friday along with the all important US PCE (personal consumption expenditure) which is the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation measure.

Post a suite of earnings updates over the last few weeks, the corporate calendar is in for a breather, except for frustrated Lend Lease ((LLC)) investors who have a chance to vent on the C suite at Monday's Investor Day.

Serko ((SKO)) and Fisher and Paykel Healthcare ((FPH)) are due to report earnings on respectively Tuesday and Wednesday, Champion Iron ((CIA)) follows on Thursday. AGMs are scheduled for shareholders in Alumina Ltd ((AWC)), Neuren Pharmaceuticals ((NEU)), Life 360 ((360)) and Nickel Industries ((NIC)).
