While trading volumes may fall as the northern summer moves into full swing in coming weeks, there will be enough economic data releases to keep investors up to date with how economies are tracking. Australia especially will be providing some numbers of importance.

It starts on Monday with the release of ANZ job ads and the TD Securities inflation report for June, followed by AiG’s performance of construction index numbers for June on Tuesday, which is the same day the Reserve Bank of Australia will announce its latest decision on interest rates. On Wednesday, July consumer confidence numbers are released along with housing finance and investment lending data for May, while on Thursday the market can expect June employment and July inflation expectations numbers.

Across in New Zealand there will be the latest business opinion survey results for the June quarter on Monday and June credit card spending data on Thursday, making it a relatively quiet week for the Kiwis.

Turning north, Japan will release leading and coincident index data for May on Monday, May machine order and current account numbers and results of the June Eco Watchers survey on Wednesday, machine tool orders for June on Thursday and domestic CGPI data for June on Friday, while China will release June quarter business climate index numbers on Tuesday.

Further north, EU data coming up next week include the July reading for investor confidence on Monday, May retail sales data on Tuesday, March quarter GDP and household consumption numbers on Wednesday. The European Central Bank’s monthly report is issued on Thursday. Out of the UK there will be May IP and manufacturing production figures on Tuesday, May consumer credit and June consumer confidence numbers on Wednesday, trade balance data for the same month on Thursday and June PPI figures on Friday. Also, the Bank of England announces its latest rate decision on Thursday.

From the US there will be ISM non-manufacturing data for June on Monday, May consumer credit and the latest in mortgage applications on Wednesday, wholesale inventories for May and the latest initial jobless claims data on Thursday, while the US data week will finish with May trade balance numbers, June Import price index figures and the July reading on the University of Michigan consumer confidence survey.

With reporting season now only a month away there is little in terms of corporate activity and announcements expected next week, the exceptions being the likes of Transurban’s ((TCL)) June quarter traffic data and shareholder meetings for CSR ((CSR)), SP Ausnet ((SPN)), PanAust ((PNA)), Immuron ((IMC)) and Genera Biosystems ((GBI)).
