Two elections to watch this weekend – Germany and New Zealand. At this stage it looks like incumbents in both countries will be returned, but we’ve all learned not to be overly complacent when it comes to elections.

There is quite a lot of global economic data due next week, particularly in the US.

There we’ll see house prices, new and pending home sales, consumer confidence, durable goods, trade, personal income & spending, the Chicago Fed national and Richmond Fed activity indices, and the Chicago PMI.

Janet Yellen will speak on Tuesday and the final revision of June quarter GDP will be made on Thursday.

Chinese data include industrial profits and the September manufacturing PMI.

Japan has a big data dump on Friday.

The RBNZ holds a policy meeting on Thursday.

Australia’s only release of note is private sector credit on Friday.

The local stock market calendar includes earnings results from Kathmandu ((KMD)) and Nufarm ((NUF)), ASX’s ((ASX)) and AGL’s ((AGL)) AGM, and another week of ex-dividends, including for the likes of Seven West Media ((SWM)), Sirtex ((SRX)) and Myer ((MYR)).
