Tonight the UK markets will closed, including base metal markets, and no one's allowed to laugh inappropriately.
Tonight in the US sees the release of the Chicago PMI, the fortnightly Michigan Uni consumer sentiment survey and monthly private income and expenditure data. There will be earnings results from Dow components Caterpillar, Chevron and Merck.
Next week is the first week of the new month, and that means PMI time. Across the week, starting Monday, Australia, China, the UK, Europe and US will release purchasing managers' indices for manufacturing, services and construction.
In Australia we'll also see a first quarter house price index, the TD Securities monthly inflation gauge, building approvals and retail sales. While Gerry's heart will be in his mouth for the retail sales number, the TD gauge will be of most interest given the press will probably jump all over it ahead of Tuesday's RBA rate decision. The RBA will leave its cash rate on hold.
Along with the PMIs, the US will see factory orders, vehicle sales, chain store sales, consumer credit, and first quarter productivity. It's also employment week, meaning the ADP private sector report comes out on the Wednesday and the official non-farm payrolls number on the Friday.
There will be more US earnings reports out next week.
All eyes will turn to Europe on Thursday when both the Bank of England and the European Central Bank make rate decisions. No change is expected in the UK but the ECB might just go again.
Chinese markets will be closed on Monday.
On the local stock front, it's bank reporting season with all of ANZ ((ANZ)), Westpac ((WBC)) and National ((NAB)) reporting half-years. Orica ((ORI)) will also report a half-year and News Corp ((NWS)) will release a quarterly.
I'll be keeping an eye out tonight to see if Harry's dad got a bait to the wedding. Oh no, is that the Grenadier Guards at the door?
