By Greg Peel

We move from what was a relatively quiet week data-wise across the globe this week into a rather busy one next week, culminating in the first estimate of US June quarter GDP.

The US will see numbers for existing and new homes sales, house prices, consumer confidence, durable goods and trade along with the Richmond Fed and Chicago Fed national indices. The GDP result is due on Friday.

The US, Japan and eurozone flash July manufacturing PMI estimates on Monday.

The UK releases its first estimate of GDP on Wednesday.

This week’s central bank policy meetings amounted to little and no change is expected from the Fed on Wednesday night, although the language will be closely scrutinised.

Australia’s June quarter CPI result is due on Wednesday and the RBA governor will speak.

On the local stock front, the resource sector quarterly reporting season rolls on with numbers due next week from Newcrest ((NCM)), Western Areas ((WSA)), OZ Minerals ((OZL)), Independence Group ((IGO)) and Fortescue ((FMG)), among others.

Investor days will be hosted by Bank of Queensland ((BOQ)) and Westpac ((WBC)). Macquarie Group ((MQG)) holds its AGM.

And GUD Holdings ((GUD)) earnings result reminds us that reporting season begins in earnest in the following week.
