The US jobs numbers are due tonight but with the Fed in hiking mode, they’re not as potent as they used to be.

Attention then swings to the French election and whether or not there’ll still be an EU on Monday. The polls say yes.

With that out of the way attention locally will swing to the federal budget on Tuesday night, analysis of which we likely won’t be getting from the Herald or Age. There potentially could be a lot therein which can impact on various sectors, but it still has to pass the Senate and that’s far from a given.

Australian data next week includes ANZ job ads and the NAB business and Westpac consumer confidence surveys, along with building approvals and retail sales.

Chinese trade numbers and inflation data are due next week.

The RBNZ and Bank of England will hold policy meetings.

US data releases include inflation, retail sales and consumer sentiment.

On the local stock front, the bank earnings season wraps up with Westpac’s ((WBC)) result on Monday and a quarterly update from Commonwealth Bank ((CBA)) on Tuesday.

Earnings reports are also due from Graincorp ((GNC)) and Xero ((XRO)), REA Group ((REA)) will provide a quarterly update and AMP ((AMP)) features among the list of AGMs next week.
